Here are some steps you can follow when you register domain names.

1. Think of a name

Try to think of a unique name for your domain. Something that sounds catchy, isn’t too long or easy to forget. Try to get a domain name that has something to do with your organization, or a name that is just simple to remember.

2. Finding a domain registrar

Choosing a good domain name registrar can be tough. What you might want to look for are the following:

  • The price! Domains should ussually range from $15 - $40/yearly depending on what type of domain name you purchase. (eg: .ca .com .net)
  • Registrar Reliabillity. Make sure you find a company that has some good reviews on the net. Some companies have been known to have alot of downtime and poorly setup control panels. Look into the company before buying and do some research!
  • 3. How to register your domain

So you have the name in your head that you would like to register and you know which registrar you are going to buy from. You are all ready to purchase it, but wait, scrap that name because it’s probably going to be gone! That’s right. Finding a domain name that is available off the top of your head is nearly impossible. You may now want to start brainstorming. Don’t give up because eventually you will find one that suits your company well. Think it over wisely and don’t settle for whatever is available.

    4. Ready for purchase

When you have completed the steps above, you are ready to buy your domain. Follow the instructions listed on the domain name registrar website. Every registrar will have a different process for purchasing the name. We hope these steps will help you understand a bit about buying a domain name.
